Diva Hair Design is now an established training organisation, and has a great deal to offer existing hair designers and students, who wish to start or develop their career in hairdressing.

The Academy at Diva Hair Design is an accredited City and Guilds Assessment Centre, enabling the team to deliver all your training in one building to National Vocation Qualifications Standards Levels 1, 2, and 3, (and soon to be Level 4).

This gives the Academy at Diva Hair Design full college status.

Diva Hair Design are also proud to be a member of 365 Day Hairdressing, an organisation designed to improve the standards of the hairdressing industry.

What does the training consist of?

Young people who take part in the training programme join Diva Hair Design, in order to gain valuable work experience, whilst they under go high quality training in both the Salon and the Academy.

The course obviously concentrates on hairdressing as its main subject, but also provides training and education in areas such as reception work, retailing, communication and other key elements designed to introduce young people to the world of work.

The training programme leads towards NVQ Level 1, followed by NVQ Level 2,and NVQ Level 3. Members of the team who have already completed the majority of the above programmes may then study to achieve their City & Guilds Assessors Award qualification known as A1.

Within the company at this time, there are two fully qualified Assessors.

This is an unprecedented number within a company the size of Diva Hair Design.

We operate the SAM programme created by Cheynes Training, which has recently been named as one of the top training providers in the country by the Chief Inspector of the Adult Learning Inspectorate (ALI).

The SAM programme is superior to any other system that we know because:

• It delivers two qualifications at Level 2
• It requires twice as many assessments to be achieved
• It is backed up by high quality logbooks and training materials
• It is run by highly skilled, practicing, professional hairdressers.

Trainees can enter the SAM programme at any level. Level 1 can be achieved whilst still at school.

Most Level 2 candidates are school leavers at age 16. And it takes about 18 months to achieve.

Our training team is a group of senior hairdressers currently working in the salon , who take time out of work to teach the trainees, so they are up-to-date, enthusiastic, professional and very experienced.

Our trainees have two assessors working alongside them in the salon, so there are opportunities every day for the trainees to be assessed.

What else will I be doing?

Of course you will be expected to do your share of coffee making, sweeping up, and making sure the salon is tidy, but you can be sure it does not end there.

You will be taught the skills of hairdressing starting from the basics, an integral part being the understanding of hair, right through to the latest fashion techniques in hairdressing today.

You will be guaranteed guidance and support from highly experienced Diva Hair Design Academy educators through the programmes and throughout your career within the company.

What are my job prospects?

In a word ..... excellent!

The major aim of training is to ensure that all young people, who start the course, male or female, carry on, to take up a position within the company. When you have successfully completed the training programme, your career has begun.

There are many opportunities with Diva Hair Design. Not only can you become a successful hairdresser earning an excellent salary with a secure future; you can also be involved in:

EDUCATION AND TRAINING IN THE ACADEMY - whilst improving your own techniques all the time, with courses offered within the salon and outside, you will help train students who have joined after you and share your knowledge with them and promote centre of excellence.

MARKETING & BUSINESS - As a member of 365 Day Hairdressing, the opportunities to develop marketing & business skills will be encouraged by you attending business management seminars, and these will be structured as part of a personal career programme by the Diva Hair Design and Academy Teams.

CREATIVITY - Any member of the team showing a keen desire to create for shows, photographic work, etc. will be given every encouragement to pursue this avenue of their chosen career.

Who can join the training programme?

This is open to all young people who are interested in a career in hairdressing. No special qualifications are required. A good all round education and a keen desire to pursue your chosen career in hairdressing, backed up by an interest in fashion, would be very helpful and advantageous.

Diva Hair Design are always looking for new training models in our Salon.

From as little as £3.50 you could have a new look. Fashion cuts and re-styles are urgently needed, on out training day at the Academy.

All work is supervised by fully qualified Trainers and Assessors.
